Saunders Boston designed the new Brookside entrance to Cambridge University Botanic Garden and has been awarded First Prize in the 2009 David Urwin Awards. A Plaque and Scroll was presented to Saunders Boston and the Botanic Garden at the annual CFCI dinner at Kings College. The 2009 award is for best work in the public realm, and is jointly sponsored the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry, Cambridge Newspapers and Cambridge City Council.

Professor John Parker, Director of the Botanic Garden, added, "The new Brookside Gate has created and framed a very inviting view into the heart of the Garden, especially with the magnolias and cherries coming into bloom now. We are thrilled with this accessible new gateway to the garden and salute Saunders Boston's excellent execution of a challenging client brief."

Saunders Boston are now assisting the garden with the design of a teaching facility set in the heart of the Botanic Garden, as the final element of the Brookside redevelopment plans.
