A proposal to deliver a total of 22 new homes, including 11no new affordable homes, has been granted Planning Approval by SCDC Planning Committee.

Designed by Saunders Boston Architects for the Greater Cambridgeshire Housing Development Agency acting on behalf of the owners Cambridgeshire County Council the proposals look to address local housing need in Litlington. 10 of the 11 affordable homes will be for those with a local connection- with 8 homes at affordable rents and 2 for shared ownership.  The last affordable home will be for General Needs Housing.

The project is a demonstration of the County Council’s work to support the development of much needed new homes within the district and its active support of delivering affordable homes whilst raising essential revenues to support its core services.

New Library Storage Facility for Cambridge University

April 2017

Work has started on site on a major new development for Cambridge University facilitating the provision of a purpose built storage facility for low-use, but unique, printed material (books and files containing paper) held by the University Library. The facility is to provide sufficient capacity for the projected storage needs up to 2030 and the site should be large enough to allow for a further 25% expansion of storage capacity beyond that.

Material to be stored in the facility is currently held in several locations in and around Cambridge, which will be ‘migrated’ to the new building over a period of several years. During this period, and thereafter, any request for archive material held in the facility will involve a ‘next day’ delivery to the Main Library in Cambridge with a similar return journey when the loan period is finished.

The University has identified a suitable site on the Lancaster Way Business Park, near Ely, and has reached an agreement with the park developer, Grovemere Property Limited.
